The Society particularly welcomes young people with an interest in Science, Art, Literature and Philosophy to become Members.
The Society offers:
To become a Full Member of the Society, you must be nominated and seconded by a Fellow or a Full Member of the Society. (If you wish to join and you do not personally know a Fellow or a Full Member, please contact the Society's office and we can arrange for an introduction. Often, people decide to join after attending meetings as a visitor.)
Full Members who wish to have their professional qualifications recognised by the Society may apply to the Society's Council to be entitled to use the post-nominal "MRSN".
Associate Membership is available to spouses or partners of applicants who become Full Members, to undergraduate and postgraduate students (aged under 25) of tertiary institutions and to high school students.
Honorary Members are elected from time to time by the Society's Council. They are people of eminent learned attainment or people who have been benefactors of NSW or other Australian states or who have been distinguished promoters of the Society. There are never more than 20 Honorary Members at any one time. Honorary Members may not hold office, vote or otherwise take part in the business of the Society.
Australians of distinction may be nominated for Fellowship of the Society. Currently, there are 14 fellows with distinguished international reputations in their fields. Two of the Society's Fellows are winners of the Nobel Prize. Any Full Member of the Society may nominate a candidate for consideration for Fellowship.
If you wish to become a Member of the Society, please visit the Society's main web-site for details of membership rates and the procedure for joining.
